Tour Itinerary (1.30pm to approximately 6.40pm)
1.30pm: coaches depart from AUT, bound for Auckland ferry terminal
2.00pm: ferry departs Auckland, bound for Waiheke Island
2.40pm approximate arrival time at Waiheke Island
On arrival at Waiheke Island guests will be met and taken on a tour of Waiheke Island including wine tastings, olive oil presentation and tastings and walk on Little Oneroa Beach.
When Aucklander's talk of an island paradise they are referring to Waiheke Island which is 35 minutes by ferry from downtown Auckland. With a permanent population of around 9,700 people Waiheke Island is home to over 30 wineries, along with olive groves, dozens of local and internationally renowned artists and great restaurants. On this picturesque island there is a blend of farmland, forest and stunning beaches. With hot, dry summers and stony soils, Waiheke wineries produce unique, high quality wines based on cabernet sauvignon, merlot, malbec, cabernet franc and the recent move into chardonnay grape varieties.
6.00pm ferry departs Waiheke Island bound for Auckland
6.40pm arrival time at Auckland ferry terminal
On arrival back at Auckland ferry terminal guests to make their own way to their accommodations. Or some guests may like to stay on Waiheke Island for dinner at a local restaurant such at Oyster Inn or The Local or a winery restaurant such as Cable Bay or Mudbrick. Or some guests may like to stay overnight on Waiheke Island and use their round trip ferry ticket to return to Auckland at their leisure.
$190.00 per person includes tour guide, coach transport from AUT conference venue to Auckland ferry terminal, round trip ferry tickets, road transport and driver / guide on Waiheke Island, wine tastings, olive oil presentation and tastings, bottled water and New Zealand 15% GST.
Minimum 20 guests and maximum 80 guests. However if less than 20 guests book on the tour the tour may at the discretion of Exclusive Tours Limited, still go ahead.
